Our Background

David Meurer

a German-Romanian wildlife enthusiast, founded Altitudine Carpatica out of a deep commitment to protecting nature and restoring the iconic species of the Carpathians. Growing up between two cultures and spending much of his life outdoors, he developed a strong connection to wildlife, conservation ethics, and the landscapes he now works to protect. His goal is to combine scientific knowledge, hands-on experience, and cultural heritage to create meaningful, lasting impact for raptors and rural communities in Romania.

Education

5th Year Veterinary Student

University of Life Sciences "lon lonescu de la Brad" lași

David’s advanced veterinary education provides the biological and medical expertise needed for wildlife rehabilitation, disease prevention, and evidence-based conservation planning. This ensures that the project’s work with raptors is grounded in professional animal care and scientific accuracy.

This qualification represents thorough training in sustainable wildlife management, habitat ecology, population dynamics, and wildlife diseases. It strengthens the project by providing a deep understanding of ecosystems, species interactions, and responsible conservation practices within natural landscapes.

Hands-on raptor handling and training skills are essential for working safely and effectively with birds of prey. This experience supports proper welfare, behavioral assessment, flight conditioning, and the preservation of falconry as a cultural heritage closely tied to raptor conservation.

Advanced clinical and surgical training from one of the world’s leading avian hospitals equips David with the ability to diagnose, treat, and rehabilitate injured raptors to high international standards. This expertise directly enhances the project’s capability to save and release wildlife.
